UKAT’s Nicki Hari advises against prescription drug warning labels on the BBC
Speaking on behalf of those with drug addiciton, Nicki Hari talks to the BBC about warning labels on opioids – suggesting that the impact of introducing them will have little effect. She brings attention to existing warning labels on medication, reminding the public that those in the throes of addiction don’t care about them. “It’s just the tip of the iceberg,” she says, suggesting that “opioids need to be withdrawn from over-the-counter medication altogether.”
Nicky’s proposal arises from her own experience, having battled an addiction to painkillers after multiple knee operations. She currently works as a counsellor at UK Addiction Treatment, dealing with addiction stories daily.
