Outpatient treatment services

We understand that you may not feel ready to undergo your rehabilitation experience in a shared space. In which case, you may be tempted to consider an outpatient programme; this involves remaining at home for the duration of your treatment and only attending the clinic for scheduled sessions. While this may be beneficial for those who have been abusing substances for only a short while or those who have already completed treatment and need further support, outpatient care is missing two valuable requirements. It does not provide a substance-free environment where you can immerse yourself in a recovery culture with those in a similar state – both of which help you to successfully refrain from addiction.

If you are concerned about work commitments or want the freedom to recover on your terms, we urge you to speak to our admissions team or book a free consultation with one of our centre managers. They will be able to talk you through the process and advise the best options for you.

Who benefits from outpatient care?

Of course, you may have child care or other important commitments which prevent you from taking time off for inpatient (residential) rehab. In this case, outpatient care will be your best option. Because UKAT’s treatments focus on connection through supportive and exciting groups, we do not offer outpatient treatment. However, there are outpatient options available through the NHS and specific charities.

Please be aware that because outpatient treatment takes place for fewer hours each week than residential care, it’s likely to take longer to complete the programme. It also doesn’t offer you respite from any atmosphere which may be impacting your addiction, so attending as many AA (Alcoholics Anonymous), CA (Cocaine Anonymous) or NA (Narcotics Anonymous) groups during your treatment as you can is highly advisable.

Inpatient vs outpatient detoxing services

If you have taken large amounts of an addictive substance, such as alcohol or drugs, then you will need to detox as part of your recovery process. Withdrawal can be a delicate stage, and being at home with access to addictive substances makes the process even more trying. If you are looking for a safe space to detox, with the assistance of medical professionals, then we advise booking into inpatient treatment for at least a few days while you cleanse your system. This gives you the best chance of weaning off the substance effectively and in a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere, away from disruption. It also offers the opportunity to connect with others and trial if inpatient rehab is something you’d like to continue.

If you are worried about someone else’s substance abuse and would like support on how to help them with addiction, you can call us or contact us via live chat to speak to a caring and knowledgeable professional. We can offer information on the inpatient care we provide, how this differs from outpatient treatment and how it can be accessed.

Our compassionate staff will treat anything you tell them in strict confidence. If you need advice on addiction, want more guidance on inpatient vs outpatient rehab or need someone to talk to, we are here to listen.
