How to Make a Referral to UKAT

We know that you have already established a professional relationship with your client and will have assessed his or her situation before making any referral. We believe this connection between you and your client is very important and should be continued. For that reason, we will work with you during referral and treatment to ensure that your client is completely comfortable throughout the process.

For those who wish to make a referral to UKAT, simply contact our Admissions team and they will begin the process with you. During this phone call, we will ask for details of your client and will require information relating to the assessment your team has carried out.

Once it has been agreed that admission is appropriate for your client, we will make arrangements for this to happen as soon as possible. This will include admission date, administration, and finance. If a family member would prefer to make these arrangements with us, they can call directly on

Client Admission

Once admission has been arranged and your client has arrived with us, we will contact you (with the consent of your client). We believe it is important for you to maintain a connection with your client, particularly since your client will be returned to your clinical care upon discharge from UKAT.

You can expect the call from our Admissions team within hours of the arrival of your client. The call is not only intended to inform you of your client’s arrival, but also to provide you with information regarding the primary counsellor assigned to your client. Please note that if your client arrives overnight or during the weekend, we will endeavour to contact you either first thing the following morning or on Monday morning if it were a weekend arrival.

You will also receive a call from the primary counsellor within forty-eight hours, at which time you can discuss your requirements in relation to how you would like to be informed of your client’s progress. You can also take this opportunity to discuss aftercare options for your client if you wish. We will also make sure that this information is confirmed with you in writing either by email or letter following on from your discussions with the primary counsellor.

UKAT welcomes the opportunity to meet with professional addiction referral staff and would encourage you to arrange a face to face meeting with us where you can learn more about our services and the programme of treatment we provide for clients. Please do not hesitate to contact us for further information or to arrange a meeting at a UKAT facility at a mutually agreeable time.
