About The Author
Celeste was an Alumni Coordinator for UKAT, providing support and guidance to clients as they navigate their recovery journey after rehab. As a person in recovery and the child of an alcoholic, Celeste drew on their firsthand experience with addiction to create informational web pages, and help guides for our websites, particularly focusing on addiction’s impact on family and loved ones. They hoped that this content would help readers identify with unhealthy behaviours and encourage them through the early stages of their recovery journey. Celeste was also featured on various radio stations, including BBC Radio Essex. Though no longer with UKAT, their contributions to our recovery community continue to resonate.
Celeste has known addiction their whole life, growing up with an alcoholic father and witnessing his decline. After over twenty years of battling addiction, primarily to alcohol and cocaine, Celeste found recovery in 2021 and has been sober ever since. A passionate writer, Celeste produced the UKAT recovery podcast ‘Screaming on the Inside,’ authored a recovery blog, and served as Editor of the Alumni Newsletter.

As a member and media volunteer for Nacoa (National Association for the Children of Alcoholics), Celeste was a passionate advocate for those in recovery from addiction. Through their writing and speaking about the issues surrounding addiction and recovery, Celeste aimed to contribute meaningfully to this important conversation.

Celeste also earned an Accredited Level 3 Addiction Counselling Diploma. Though no longer with UKAT, their commitment to recovery and advocacy continues to inspire others.

“We may not always get what we want, but if we take it a day at a time and do the next right thing, we will always get what we need.” - Celeste
